Where It All Started
Based out of a small office in Empire Bay, Clarke Dowdle & Associates was founded by Wayne Dowdle in 1989, originally named “East Coast Surveys”. This was later changed to “Wayne Dowdle & Associates” in 1995.
As the company developed, it expanded its range of services offered – broadening into Bushfire Consulting in 2002.
In the meantime, Anthony Clarke was working with Wayne for a number of years, and once he qualified as a Registered Surveyor in 2005, he became a partner in the business – establishing what is now known as “Clarke Dowdle & Associates”, situated in Umina Beach.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Kristan Dowdle joined the business in 2002, offering his expertise in all areas of ecology and bushfire consulting, and becoming a Certified BPAD Practitioner in 2010.
After Wayne Dowdle retired in 2015, Kristan partnered with Anthony as an owner of the company, embarking to continue the deep, family-owned roots of Clarke Dowdle & Associates.

Anthony Clarke – Registered Surveyor
– Registered Surveyor M.I.S. (NSW)
– Bachelor of Surveying, Honours Class 2 (University of Newcastle)
Anthony Clarke is a Registered Surveyor since 2005, and Principal of Clarke Dowdle and Associates, with over 30 years of industry experience. Anthony has experience in all areas of cadastral surveying, including both Strata and Torrens subdivision, and general Land Title matters in NSW.
Kristan Dowdle – Certified Bushfire Consultant
– Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environmental Management) (University of Newcastle)
– BPAD Certified Practitioner (FPA Australia)
– Graduate Diploma Design in Bushfire Prone Areas (University of Western Sydney)
Kristan Dowdle is a Bushfire Planning and Design (BPAD) Certified Practitioner, accredited by the Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPA). Kristan is also a qualified Ecologist, giving him a diverse range of expertise in his field, with over 20 years of experience as an Ecologist and Bushfire Consultant.
